The Brief
Belfast City Council Cleansing Department have operated the Brighter Belfast Environmental Awards since 2004 which rewards individuals, schools and groups who actively work towards improving not only their own, but the whole environment of Belfast. The competition culminates in an award ceremony and gala dinner to celebrate the entrants’ achievements.
The Event
Traditionally this gala evening has been held in Belfast City Hall, but due to refurbishment in 2008, the Studio in Belfast Waterfront was chosen as the perfect alternative. Morrow Communications completely transformed the venue from an industrial feel conference venue, to a fabulous and sophisticated gala dinner experience through venue dressing and lighting effects. We provided a complete event management service including speaker sourcing and briefing, entertainment programme, technical presentations, graphic design and guest management.
Challenges which Morrows events team dealt with included providing a ‘fresh and lively’ entertainment programme for regular guests over the past 4 years, a tight set up schedule of multiple suppliers in the run up to the evening, and dealing with a last minute cancellation of the main entertainment act with only 2 days notice.
The Results
The ‘wow’ factor for this event came from a breathtaking aerial routine by silk artistes which our guests had never seen before, and together with a piano/flute duet and up close magician the entertainment complemented perfectly the style of the event. Nuala McKeever’s tongue and cheek humour; excellent food served without a hitch and finishing ahead of schedule made the evening truly enjoyable for all.
