June 2008, Watefront Studio, Belfast
The Brief
The aim of this inaugural conference hosted by the Social Economy Network was to raise awareness of the importance of the social economy sector in Northern Ireland as well as bring together public and private sector representatives to engage; strike up partnerships and assist social enterprises in delivering a real contribution to our economy.
The Event
Morrow Communications were appointed to deliver both event management and media relations services to Social Economy Network for the conference which ranged from concept development, theming, guest speakers, programming, venue management and developing a communications plan.
The conference, held in the Waterfront Hall was hosted by Seamus McKee who ably facilitated a lively debate among keynote speakers and the audience. A highlight for the conference was having Tim Campbell as the keynote speaker, formerly of ‘The Apprentice’ fame who currently operates Bright Ideas Trust and is a social enterprise ambassador in the UK. His presence not only attracted media attention but ensured positive attendance on the day.
The Results
Social Economy Network relied heavily on our event planning and communications skills in the lead up to the conference and a combined effort by Morrows PR and Event consultants ensured its success and the profile of the sector was firmly placed at the forefront of the NI business agenda.
Over 120 delegates attended this important event and a range of exhibitors provided important information for social enterprises to collaborate and partner with other sectors. Overall feedback was positive and the conference created a stepping stone for future work of the Social Economy Network.
